2016-17 Carla J. Nigro Spirit Award goes to Jessica Williar
Seth Piro, recipient of last year's Carla J. Nigro Spirit Award, was on hand to present the award to Jessica. Seth was accompanied by his daughter. |
Jessica was nominated for her true passion and commitment in ensuring all students are treated with respect and dignity. "Jessica’s 'when you know better, do better' and 'kids will do well if they can' attitude embodies how she does her daily work," Stephanie said. "She is one of the most approachable people I have ever met and she is always taking the opportunity to help someone else’s job be just a little bit easier."
Carla was a school psychologist with AEA 13. She passed away in 2010 from cancer. Carla always demonstrated a positive outlook, a friendly nature, a selfless attitude and a passion for helping others. The Carla J. Nigro Spirit Award is an annual award that acknowledges a GHAEA special education representative (school psychologist, school social worker or special education consultant) who exemplifies Carla's spirit in his/her daily work with students, parents, teachers and coworkers.
Congratulations Jessica!
