2017 Special Education Teacher Scholarship of Iowa

Cali Foglesong, daughter of Jennifer Foglesong (special education consultant, Creston), is the recipient of the 2017 Special Education Teacher Scholarship of Iowa in recognition for her academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities and educational goals.
Cali has worked with special education students through a program at Creston High School. "I love being around the kids and helping them learn new things. Seeing the smiles on their faces when they understand what I'm teaching them gives me so much joy and happiness. It's during these moments that I know I was meant to make a difference in the lives of these students," Cali said.
The award was presented on May 5 by Lisa Bartusek, Iowa Association of School Boards, a co-sponsor of the award. Cali is a senior at Creston High School and plans to attend Graceland Univ. in the fall.
